When it comes to the goals, you should add 360 ml of evaporated milk. Then take approx. 400 grams of condensed milk, and then you need 170 grams of biscuits.

Of course, we must not forget the star ingredient: the lemon. Six to eight lemons (1 kg) should be enough for the amount of lemon juice we need. This will be about 16 tablespoons of lemon juice, or approx. 200 ml.

You can also add 225 grams of whipped cream and two teaspoons of ground cinnamon if desired. These are extra ingredients and you do not need them for the original recipe. It all depends on what you like.

  1. Squeeze the juice from the lemons first.
  2. Then pour the lemon juice into a large glass bowl.
  3. Then you add the evaporated and the condensed milk.
  4. This must be mixed well, so we recommend using a hand mixer.
  5. When everything is well mixed, we make the layers for our Lemon charlotte.
  6. Use a pie tin and place the first layer of ladybug biscuits. Lay them so that they lie on top of each other and cover the entire bottom.
  7. Once you have covered the bottom with the biscuits, pour some of the lemon juice mixture over them.
  8. Then place a new layer of biscuits over the lemon juice mixture, as you did first.
  9. Then pour the rest of the juice mixture over the other layer of biscuits. Since this comes from the bottom of the bowl, it will be thicker and have more lemon flavor.

Finally, put it in the freezer

The best thing about this recipe is that since the biscuits are ready-made, you do not need to use the oven at all. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Now put the mold with Lemon charlotte in the freezer. You should keep it there for at least 30 minutes so that the dessert hardens.

Some people prefer to put it in the fridge all day and not use the freezer at all. Both methods work well, but the latter gives you more control over the final result. You can see if it is set correctly, without freezing it too much.

Before serving, sprinkle some cinnamon on top. Some people like to grate a little lemon zest over as well. Both of these toppings elevate the flavor and presentation of the dish. You can even decorate with a little whipped cream.

Lemon charlotte, a dessert for queens

Some versions of the story claim that the dessert came from England, while King George III ruled. According to history, the dessert got its name from his wife, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Another story believes that the inventor of the dessert, Marie-Antoine CarĂªme, made it by changing a recipe for a dessert called Charlotte russe. And then the dessert was named in honor of Tsar Nikolai I, Charlotte of Prussia.

Maybe we’ll never know which Charlotte gave the name to this tasty dessert. What we do know is that it definitely deserves a royal status in the dessert realm.
