Before we dive into this recipe, we want to share a little of the story behind this exceptional dessert. It is believed that this pastry is French. However, it is also very common in some South American countries.

Mille-feuille is, as I said, a pastry that consists of layers. But do you know what these teams are made of? The answer is puff pastry.

Ready-baked and ready, the puff pastry is the “framework” for this dessert. The truth is that this cake will probably surprise you and that you will like it even more than you first thought.

However, you must remember to always keep your health in mind. You should eat desserts only occasionally, and in moderation. 

What you need to make mille-feuille

The cream for mille-feuille

Ingredients

  • 2 cups with unsalted margarine (360 g)
  • 6 eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk (125 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon with Pisco (15 ml)
  • Two rectangular pieces with puff pastry (300 g)
  • 1 tablespoon with vanilla extract (15 ml)
  • 6 tablespoons sugar (90 g)
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar (45 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of corn (45 g)

This is what you do

  1. The first thing you need to do is make the cream. To do this, you need to mix the cornstarch with a little milk. Set it aside.
  2. Then beat the eggs and margarine together with the sugar. You will see that it gets a foamy texture. Set it aside.
  3. Then mix the rest of the milk with Pisco and vanilla extract and heat until it reaches boiling point.
  4. After this, turn off the heat and stir in the mixture with eggs, margarine and sugar.
  5. Turn down the mixture on low heat and finally add the cornstarch and milk mixture.
  6. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens. It should be smooth and lump-free.
  7. Pay attention to the consistency of the mixture. It is important to keep stirring while it cools down. Otherwise it may not thicken.
  8. When you are done with the cream, put it in the fridge.

Preparation

  1. Divide the rolled puff pastry in half, and set the rest aside for later use.
  2. Cover a baking tray with a baking sheet and place the puff pastry on it.
  3. Make sure the puff pastry is well placed at the bottom. To do this, stick it with a fork and make sure it does not lift up.
  4. Spread sugar on top of the layers.
  5. Preheat the oven to 185 degrees and bake the puff pastry layers for 15 minutes.
  6. After this, remove the puff pastry from the oven and place it on a rack.
  7. Take the cream out of the fridge, whip it again to make sure it is even, and pour it into a spray bag.
  8. Now is the time to put together your mille-feuille. First add a layer of puff pastry, then cream, then another layer of puff pastry, and powdered sugar. 
  9. Repeat this procedure until you have completed all the layers.
  10. Sprinkle icing sugar on top.
  11. Remember to put the cake in the fridge when you are done.
